I love being able to cook
It started with a craving for Greek-style lemony chicken soup and turned into crock-pot chicken soup from scratch. Tomorrow, I may add the eggs and lemon juice to get it to the original intent, but, tonight I have hearty chicken and rice soup with lots of veg and garlic.
Failcat is fail.
Ziggy has been stuck in “taking care of mom” mode since I first came down with this virus. Can someone please explain to this cat that I’m not going to die if he leaves my side long enough for him to eat? The only way to get him to stop whining about being hungry is for me to stand in the kitchen, in view of his food dish, while he eats.

This is a WORKING link to the Anderson Cooper show where he interviewed many transgender youth, teens, young adults and their families — included myself and my mom. If you have some free time, you should check it out and spread it to people who may be interested and/or need some education :)
Enjoy!
Holy cow, I haven’t been that sick in a long, long time. The fever finally broke around 6 this morning. I’m still sick, but the aches and everything that went with the fever are gone. Now I just have a horrific cough and a head full of goo.
I has the flu
I’ve been awake for 3 of the last 48 hours. I am eating for the 1st time since the fever blindsided me (apples, no using the stove when I’m this sick). Kitties make very good nursemaids when it comes to keeping me in bed, but they can’t bring me food.

We think of Hollywood as a liberal and socially progressive land of hippies, what with its endless fundraisers and giving awards to movies that teach us that intolerance is wrong. Yet in certain ways, movies are still way behind the times.

Free Thanksgiving Meals: Around The Bay
nuestrahermana:
I’ve seen lists of places you can go out to eat on Thanksgiving that are under 35 dollars per person, that are vegan or are simply open on Thanksgiving. What I haven’t seen is options for folks who cannot afford any of the above. With over 15 million “food insecure” Americans and such high unemployment rates around the bay, this list is needed.
I hope this list can be of...

I hate it when that happens
I ran out of quarters before I ran out of laundry.
On the up side, there are fresh sheets and a new comforter. The cats approve of the new bedding. They might even share it with me at some point.
And they wonder why people can't afford insurance
I have a decent job with decent pay and benefits.
My company pays 90% of my insurance premium with a major carrier. These premiums would more than cover my medical expenses in a given year, but I have to have insurance because of pre-existing conditions. With my “good” insurance, I must still pay, out of pocket, 90% of the billed amount for any doctor’s visit, medical procedure,...
